By the edge of somewhere

End of the line

Virtual Junction

Some paths are clearly marked – others take you straight to the edge of things. So it is in life as well as on platforms and piers.

The small photo series explores notions of uncertainly in relation to paths.

I am interested in the path that stops abruptly – the end of the path so to speak. A path to the edge of the sea – or to the end of a platform. Where the path stops, something else begins and our eye travels further than our feet allow us.

And I am also interested in junctions where one path crosses another. For junctions create their own feelings of uncertainty. And when we come to a junction, we can often not see the end of either of the paths we are presented with.

The photo “Virtual Junction” explores notions of obscurity and deception when we are confronted with junctions. It raises the question of how we make decisions about whether to stop and where to go next.
