Following a path in liminal light

This drawing using pastels and oil crayons was undertaken late one winter's afternoon, looking at the connections of paths and borders. As the sun set and the colours muted I found my gaze focused on the plant shapes and shadows and the way the pathways became signposts, perhaps reminding me that soon I would need to head home.

As an artist my interest lies working en plein air with organic shapes drawn directly from observations of the landscape, of plants and trees. I use drawing, painting and collage as mediums to capture the essence of an emotional response to my experience of the world.
